So I just called Netflix to cancel my subscription. It's sad seeing I've been using them for almost 9 years now. I just could not accept that they want to charge and extra $4 a month so I can get Bluray discs. Netflix says it's more expensive for them to buy Bluray so they're raising the price on it. It's total bullshit to me seeing that I can walk into a store and purchase Bluray at the same price as a DVD. When DVDs came out, rental prices for them were no different than VHS, so why the price difference with Bluray? Considering they buy in bulk, I'm pretty sure they can get the pricing down to about the same as DVDs.
Even if it does cost a little more, so what? Blurays are tougher and more resilient to accidental scratches or damages, so the amount they save from replacing bad DVDs would be a lot lower compared to Bluray. I just can't justify this kind of business practise. It's about as bad as Craptastic a.k.a Comcast.
